The other day, serial leaker evleaks tweeted that the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet would be unveiled on October 22nd. That was followed up by a published report on Wednesday saying that the first Windows Phone to contain the GDR3 update will be launched via AT&T on November 8th which is two weeks after the introduction. The report said that this date was confirmed by multiple sources.

The leak also revealed pricing for the Nokia Lumia 1520. If legit it would mean that the phablet would not only have the largest screen of all Windows Phone handsets, it also would be the most expensive. According to the report, the device will be priced at $699 off-contract, which surpasses the previous record holder. That would be the Nokia Lumia 1020 which was stamped with a $649 off-contract price when launched. There is some speculation that AT&T will lower the off-contract price a little while the subsidized price will probably be $299.99.

The latest rumored specs include a 6 inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920. The unit will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, with 2GB RAM on board. There is 32GB of native storage that can be expanded with the use of a microSD slot, and the phablet is equipped with 4 microphones for Rich Audio Recording (you have to say that with an echo in your head). A 3400mAh cell powers the phone. The Nokia Lumia 1520 will be available in red, black, yellow and white.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is going to offer a lot of firsts for the platform. Thanks to the GDR3 update we have the largest screen, the highest resolution screen, and a rather powerful set of silicon with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. Will this be a major turning point for the platform?
